The Alfred Solomon Heart Foundation recently sponsored free screening for 20 poor children with heart disease at the Phoenix Heart Center (www.phoenixheartcentre.com). The foundation wishes to thank pediatric cardiologists-Dr Muthukumaran and Dr Prasad- for their services which they provided cheerfully free of cost. Many of these children have been identified for heart surgery/ intervention free of cost. One child required urgent surgery as he was very sick and the Alfred Solomon Heart Foundation funded the surgery. The child is making a smooth recovery at Apollo Children’s Hospital, Chennai.

“Dr Muthukumaran and Dr Prasad, Pediatric Cardiologists screened 19 poor children with heart disease. 10 children have been identified for surgery and 4 for intervention. The open heart surgeries will be performed by Dr Neville Solomon and the interventions (pin-hole surgery) by Dr Muthukumaran at Apollo Children’s Hospital. The ASHF sponsored the echo and cardiac evaluation for these children. Funds are being arranged for these children via the Save A Child’s Heart (SACH) program run by Apollo Children’s Hospital, Chennai. The Apollo management has been very kind in subsidizing this work.”
