“Deboprotim is a 2 month old baby weighing only 2.5 kgs who presented to us with large ventricular septal defect and congestive cardiac failure.  The child needed urgent surgery as he was repeatedly going into heart failure and recurrent pneumonia. The parents had limited funds and the ASHF partially funded the surgery. The baby had an uneventful postoperative course and is cured and can lead a normal and active life. Nikita is another 3 month old baby with large VSD who needed urgent surgery and the ASHF partially sponsored the surgery. She too did well postoperatively.  The ASHF would like to thank each contributor and team member who helped make these operations happen.”
